Signal Enhancement	• Techniques for recovery of very weak signals (e.g. noise floor suppression)

Compression	• Lossless/low-loss compression technologies for storage of huge volumes of audio, image and video information • Characterisation of existing compression techniques and algorithms

Image Processing	• Language recognition • Facial recognition • OCR for Asian languages • Image cleaning • ICR • Photo similarity recognition. • (For photographic images) object classification, object measurement, change detection etc

Speech Recognition	• Language/accent recognition • Speaker identification and characterisation (e.g. gender, age, emotions) • Audio word detection • Distinguishing between speech and non-speech (i.e. Speech Detection)

Speech Recognition	• For security applications, including speaker authentication
