(Senior) Database Engineer
CSIT develops products to advance the national security interests of Singapore. Our products are used in a wide range of operations, including but not limited to, Counter-terrorism and Computer Network Defence.
Role
As a database engineer, you will manage Oracle, SQL and NoSQL databases with a large number of tables and dataset that are running mission-critical workflows to support national security missions. Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and solutions based on user requirements for database-related projects
- Design, implement and maintain high availability and reliability of databases
- Plan and perform database version upgrades and migration
- Devise perform database backup and recovery strategies
- Perform database optimization and tuning
- Perform routine database administrative activities such as patching, database monitoring, database profiling, data integrity checks, access control management and configuration changes
- Conduct annual review and capacity planning
- Create and maintain programs (bash, python, etc) require for monitoring and alerting as well as automating routine tasks
- Enforce security standard for databases
Requirements
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering/Science or equivalent experience
- Proficient experience in Oracle, SQL and MongoDB is preferred
- Experience in using OEM tool for performance monitoring and tuning
- Experience with RedHat Linux and scripting (e.g. bash, python)
- Positive attitude and excellent teamwork
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Candidates with at least 5 years of experience in database administration will be considered for senior positions
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in database virtualisation
- Experience in Postgres, GeoSpatial and Graph database
- Experience in managing physical and virtual infrastructures
- Experience with cluster management and DevOps tools (e.g. Ansible, Kubernetes)
- Experience working in an agile and innovative environment
