Reimagining Big Data Exploration (Project)

Project Overview/Background

• We are building an exploratory platform for data analysts and are looking for interns to contribute to the development and implementation of analytical and visualisation components. Our aim is to build a user-friendly platform for analysts conducting data exploration to easily leverage data science and models to extract insights.

• The platform is based on the latest big data technologies like Spark and our user interface is powered by Jupyter.

• The successful intern will get the opportunity to test their creations at scale and gain valuable experience working on a real-world application.

• This project is suitable for both those interested in modern frontend development and data science. The specific scope can be tweaked accordingly.

Scope & Deliverables

• Research into techniques or technologies to facilitate efficient data exploration and analysis
• Design and build visualisation and/or processing components to support data exploration and analysis

Prerequisites/Skills Required

• Self-motivated, independent and willing to learn
• Experience with UI/UX
• Experience with programming/scripting in one of the following languages preferred:
  • Scala
  • Python
• Experience with the following platforms/frameworks
  • Jupyter
  • Spark
