Security Assessment Tools for Mobile Devices (Project)

Project Overview/Background

• Mobile device manufacturers and application developers are releasing new devices and apps at a fast pace. Analysis of mobile vulnerabilities and malware, and testing of new vulnerability discovery and anti-malware detection and mitigation techniques across a wide variety of configurations have become increasingly complex.

• This project aims to develop software tools to aid in the testing and analysis of vulnerabilities and malware, as well as emerging vulnerability discovery and anti-malware techniques across different Android and iOS device models, OS versions and applications.

Scope & Deliverables

Develop techniques and software tools to:

• Simulate user activity that may trigger vulnerabilities or malicious activity

• Detect abnormal or malicious events on the device

• Automate analysis of such events and highlight critical issues for deeper analysis

Prerequisites/Skills Required

• Strong interest in mobile device security
• Basic Python and C/C++ Programming
• Experience in mobile application development would be an advantage
• Applicant should indicate preference for Android or iOS (if any)
